Communications System - Colored Cards on doors

I have contacted Lt. Shane DeJarnett with the following email content, and will post any protocols I receive into this group. In my conversation with Lt. De Jarnett, he said that different vehicles are sent to a location if a medical evacuation is needed, so there would need to be some discussion and refinement regarding what the cards communicate.

Hello Lt. DeJarnett,

It was nice meeting you at the Serious Games in Parramore on Saturday. If you recall, there was a discussion about equipping households with colored cards that could be used as door hangers in the event of a disaster to speed up the required neighborhood drive-throughs by communicating household status.

As I mentioned in our conversation, I am very interested in existing protocols that law enforcement uses to communicate via colored cards in emergencies, so there is no confusion. You had mentioned that during school lockdowns, teachers use a card system to communicate with law enforcement response by sliding colored cards under their doors.

If you could connect me with information regarding card color and/or design that matches current procedures that could possibly be adapted to disaster communications I would appreciate it.

Thank you in advance.

Good work, Jan.

We need to establishing a Central Florida Resilience System thread on this issue.  We should also have a conference call on this issue.  We need to make sure that we get a broad spectrum of community input and guidance on this issue.
