COVID-19 and Racism

As discussions recognize the racial disparaties, I am continually reminded of the nuances from my academic discipline of Anthropology. Sharing a just published short essay from the online magazine Sapiens titled No, “Racial Genetics” Aren’t Affecting COVID-19 Deaths  https://www.sapiens.org/body/covid-race-genetics/ - the focus is the UK but hoping the concepts are helpful for anyone needing to explain the uneven impact of COVID-19 here in the USA

Newtown is historically black residential area of Sarasota.

The proper spelling of that community is Newtown not NewTown.  I’m calling attention to this because many of us who  grew up Newtown and have a deep rooted, honorable family legacy of contributing to Sarasota/Manatee’s prosperity believe name spelling is important.
