COVID Test Site at Gocio Elementary on June 18

The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota will open a drivethru COVID-19 testing site from 8 a.m.-noon on June 18 at Gocio Elementary School, 3450 Gocio Road, Sarasota.

The testing is open to anyone experiencing symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell) or who works in a health care setting.

Manatee School District Summer Food Distribution

The Manatee School District will continue to provide meals daily through the district’s Summer BreakSpot program.

Manatee’s policy requires children to be present to receive meals, and the food is free for anyone 18 or younger, regardless of income status or enrollment in Manatee Schools. The sites are available for walkup or drive-thru.

Sarasota School District Summer Food Distribution

The Sarasota School District will continue its meal distribution program at eight schools throughout the summer.

The district shifted to once-a-week distributions earlier this year to minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19, and on Fridays district staff distribute a week’s worth of breakfast and lunches. The meals are handed out in a drive-thru format.

Anyone 18 or younger can pick up a meal between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Fridays. Parents must have their child with them.
