Ok my fellow Sarasotans. It is your friendly MD with a public service announcement.
COVID is not over. The numbers here are concerning and going in the wrong direction! Please wear your mask, wash your hands, and respect social distancing. Your life may depend on it.

Dr Hill Guest Editorial in the Sarasota Herald-Tribune

Dr. Hill, thank you for this column in today's Herald-Tribune, with its call for action: https://www.heraldtribune.com/opinion/20200616/guest-editorial-act-locally-to-demand-health-care-equity-in-sarasota

Act locally to demand health care equity in Sarasota

We are in a cultural moment because of moral outrage by people of all colors.

New COVID Dashboard created to share Florida data

Florida’s former top coronavirus data scientist has launched a website showing far more COVID19 information than she said the state allowed her to report as an employee, including statistics contradicting Florida’s official coronavirus numbers and the push to reopen the state.

COVID-19 and Racism

As discussions recognize the racial disparaties, I am continually reminded of the nuances from my academic discipline of Anthropology. Sharing a just published short essay from the online magazine Sapiens titled No, “Racial Genetics” Aren’t Affecting COVID-19 Deaths  https://www.sapiens.org/body/covid-race-genetics/ - the focus is the UK but hoping the concepts are helpful for anyone needing to explain the uneven impact of COVID-19 here in the USA

EPA Adds More Indoor Air Quality Questions and Answers to our COVID-19 FAQ Webpage

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is on everyone’s mind as we spend more time inside our homes. EPA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have guidance for states & territories, tribes, and local governments (including public health agencies), homeowners, business owners, schools, and others to address questions about risks, exposures and protection from COVID-19.
